In a recent blog post by young UK Pot Limit Omaha expert Ben “milkybar-kid” Grundy, Grundy toys with the idea of taking up the $1.5 million “Durrrr Challenge”, an open challenge issued by Tom “Durrrr” Dwan to all takers in the poker world. Unlike a lot of successful online players, Grundy hasn’t embraced media whoring and self-promotion, seemingly preferring to just grind away and make millions. Accepting the challenge will more than likely give the young Brit some serious international exposure, and possibly infamy if he did triumph over Dwan.

If Grundy does play Dwan, his bankroll can probably survive the hit if he does lose, as his PokerTracker statistics show him as a serious winner, with a profit of over $7,695,980!

the offer of $1.5 million if i beat him, compared to paying out $500,000 is really appealing. I’d definitely do it if i could sell a big enough percentage. I’d guess the worse case scenario would be losing $2 million ish, then having to pay up $500k. I’m way to much of a bankroll nit to take the chance of that kind of loss. It would be interesting, i’m not ruling it out under the right circumstances

Dwan is currently more than half the way through the challenge with big-game poker-superstar Patrik Antonius (with Dwan in the lead by $1.8M), see the Fulltilt Durrr Vs Antonius challenge Page for detailed statistics.

The poker forums on 2+2, P5s and elsewhere are ablaze this month with posts about poker player Isildur1 who was cleaning up on FullTilt Poker, beating up on Tom “Durrrr” Dwan (to the tune of 5 Million Dollars), and holding his own against the top players (Ivey, Antonius, Benjamine).

Suggestions as to the real identity of Isildur1 on the forums have ranged from Todd Brunson (yeah righ!) , Martonas, Viktor Blom and Robert Fink. As of yet, nobody has stepped forward to admit that they are Isildur1 (some speculate this is due to tax reasons, as Isildur1 is in Sweden), however Swedish Pot-Limit Omaha player Viktor Blom has categorically denied that he is the mystery player Isildur1.

“I am not the one you are looking for. Keep searching”.

said Blom.

The mystery Continues – perhaps soon the real Isildur1 will be revealed.

Edit: Online Poker News site PokerNewsBoy.com has an interesting Bio of Isuldur1, which shows the highs and lows in the story of the mystery high-stakes poker player.
